About Wake Up Africa Uganda

Wake Up Africa-Uganda (WAKU) is a refugee-led community group in Zone 3, Bidibidi. From January 2024 to June 2025 WAKU implemented inclusive programs in education, health, livelihoods, youth empowerment and peacebuilding reaching over 1,800 direct beneficiaries.

  • Status: Pre-transition to RLO / CBO
  • Goal: Strengthen community-led services and local leadership

8 VSLAs formed, agriculture trainings and market linkages — UGX 17,000,000 saved.

Environmental Conservation

Tree planting and clean-ups across Zone 3 — dumping reduced in villages 1–7.

Youth Empowerment

Computer literacy hub and life skills — 90 youths trained.

Peacebuilding

Inter-youth dialogue, drama & peace ambassadors — 3 conflicts resolved.
